Mediocre food and shady business practices. We went here for lunch the food was ok, but not as good as other options in the area such as Sake Sushi in Chaska or Wakame in St Louis Park. The restaurant is definitely looking run down, there is broken tile in the bathrooms and the booth seats are cracked and overall the place just looks dingy. Biggest gripe is that we needed to use up a Groupon that had expired. The Groupon was for $52 or several specialty roles. The price paid was $36, the clear print on the Groupon stated that the value never expires and can be applied to the cost of goods and services purchased. Despite this the restaurant only gave us $18 towards our bill. Aka they stole $18 from us. Much better options around with better and more honest business practices. Do not recommend.
So fun to watch the cooking show! There was a group of children celebrating a birthday at the table next to us absolutely a joy to see their reactions to the show. I totally have been craving the food since we ate there. Haven't had a chance to return. Hoping the Fort Myers, Florida Osaka is just as good.
I have been here twice now and both times have been a poor experience. Even with calling ahead for a hibachi dinner for 4, we still waited about 20 minutes for a table. We waited at the bar for those 20 minutes and no one was at the bar to offer us drinks. After being seated, and remembering my last experience ordering sushi (room temperature sub par sushi), I opted for a vegetable hibachi which was average to below average. We ordered hot saki which was served in clear plastic shot glasses, one which was cracked and leaked saki. While waiting for the chef at the hibachi table, I was facing the light switch panel and control panel on the wall which controlled the stove tops for the hibachi and noticed them absolutely filthy. I have never seen something so incredibly dirty at a restaurant before. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that the coating on the panels was peeling off and blackened because of all of the accumulated oil and dirt from the chefs touching it daily with it not being cleaned. The floor was sticky, the menus dirty, a lot of dust accumulated on decorations, and the restaurant was clearly in a state of disrepair and unkempt. The Happy Birthday song blasting on the speaker every few minutes. They pass around a paper mache Japanese styled head for every birthday-celebrating individual to put on their heads while the overhead speaker is playing a happy birthday song and it is clearly not cleaned (I watched the head get passed from table to table multiple times). With all of this, the service was responsive but ultimately a poor experience and a surprisingly high price point for the experience. I would not recommend this place.
We love the various Osaka's. Love that this location is not attached to any other businesses. Hidden, but spacious.Great food, love watching them cook in front of us. The wait varies, sometimes we get right in, others we get seated and have to wait a half hour for it to start, probably because they want to wait for a group outside of 2 people to be seated, not a problem. So, note that unless you have a group of 4+ you will be seated with others at the griddle table. We love the fried rice, yum yum sauce and seafood. he food was fabulous, chef was so entertaining. Family friendly. Quick service from start to finish. Definitely a Birthday location.Parking at this location is easy and free. Probably my favorite location.
