I wanted to try my first Malaysian lunch here. hmmm, in the door and first impressions are not great. a mix of the decoration of the former Italian restaurants and the placats of a Malaysian travel agency does not create a great ambiente! now, the salt pepper chicken wings were in order, but the main course had gone frightening. a kind of nudel and taglatelli. Maybe they stopped the previous cook! Anyway, it was sleemy and terrible and I won't be back.
The food there is absolutely delicious!!! I was really pleasantly surprised, as from the outside and also from the cheap and not very pleasant decorations inside, it may appear as another cheap Chinese take-away. But the staff there is very friendly and helpful, they can give you good advice and help with choosing the right dish for you. Most importantly, the food there is really amazing tasting, fresh and unusual with beautiful seafood and huge range of exotic Thai cuisine. I was there with work colleagues for a big dinner and we ordered 20 different starters, main courses and some deserts, which we shared to get a chance to try a bit of everything. Wow .. wow wow!!! I love every single dish I have ever ordered and eaten here, not only that, but all the dishes everyone else ordered too! I'd sit and taste all the food and still be eating my own! The prawns are to dye for! I can easily sit and consume the entire dish to myself, and have at least 3 pearl milk tea drinks! The seafood is always so fresh and tasty! The meat dishes are juicy and so hot! The veg dishes are huge! And taste variety is just insane. The family here and the service here has never failed 5 stars. Really big thumbs up to eating here!
Kampung Ali is a restaurant that I frequently find myself passing by without giving it a second thought. The exterior may not be very appealing or suggest that there is delicious food inside, but once you step in and are greeted by incredible aromas, you know you are in for a great meal.
This Malaysian restaurant near Lothian Road is a cool spot. It's quite spacious, but tends to get really busy, so it's best to make a reservation if possible. The food quality is top-notch and the prices are very affordable! I tried the tom yum seafood soup and it was absolutely delicious and flavorful. If you enjoy spicy and soupy dishes like I do, this is a must-try in Edinburgh. It's a bit different from Thai tom yum but in a good way. They also have a sister restaurant in the Old Town that is just as fantastic, so if you're on the other side of the city, be sure to check it out. I can't wait to come back here for more!
