Afternoon Tea At Mclarens On The Corner

While the waiter was friendly enough, the table wasn’t set beforehand. We had to ask for several things; teaspoons, sugar, hot water, jam and cream for scones. The food itself was nice although the mushroom-filled profiteroles had a chocolate cocoa crackelin which was a little strange. The prawn and sweet chilli toasted sandwich was also good but due to these, the overall summary was that the food was all a bit sweet. The afternoon tea was generous and we did take some away to share at home. The scones were delicious.

Food was ok Very noisy area Service quite slow,I would also think that the server should know what is on the afternoon tea stand!! Not keen on a 10% service charge being automatically added either- Our bill had tea and coffee added which was incorrect as it’s supposed to be included in the price of afternoon tea. Unfortunately they were unable to adjust the bill as they needed a managers approval and there was no manager available

Very impressive afternoon tea. Wish the drinks were served before the food and wish we were offered tea and coffee throughout and quicker. Apart from that it was all really good.

Rare wee day out with my mum. Pretty faultless tbh. Only issue was it was meant to be limitless tea/coffee but apart from a drink upon arrival we didn’t get offered any other drinks. After an hour we had to flag down a member of staff request a drink. Food setting nice.

I took my grandaughter to McLarens last Sunday for afternoon tea. Our tables booked for 2.15. By 3pm we had been served pots of tea but nothing else. After several enquiries and being give various excuses (food was being freshly prepared, there was only 1 chef on, stand was being loaded) but no apologies we finally left at 3.40pm with no food having been served! I know restaurants are struggling just now due to covid but this was ridiculous. We should have been told at the start there would be an hour and a half wait to be served. A very unpleasant experience. We will not be back!!!!
