I really wanted to love this place but they seemed so disinterested in us. We each had a glass of wine and had to literally flag the man down after being finished our wine for quite some time who was busy cleaning glasses at the bar just to get us our bill.
This gem of a restaurant has eluded our party until now and boy, have we been missing out! The restaurant serves quality local produce in fully flavoursome dishes, which our party loved. Couple this with a lovely setting and attentive, knowledgeable service, and it made for a wonderful experience. The £30 per head, 3 course lunch menu is exceptional value for money and we did wonder how they managed to serve such fantastic fare at this price point. Please get yourself along to Whiskers, as it is worth the effort!
Whiskers has an attentive and skilled staff that warmly welcomed us into a simple but warm atmosphere. We started with the Mushroom Spring roll where the slightly sweet sauce excellently accented the earthy taste of the mushrooms. One of us had the Guinea Fowl with lentils while the other had steak. Both were cooked to perfection, tender, and flavourful. We finished with a lemon tart whose brisk, fresh taste was a perfect ending. Wine pairings for dinner and dessert were perfect.
We always always have a fantastic experience in Whiskers. We usually go for a family Sunday roast and the food is faultless with generous portions and lots of fresh vegetable sides to share. The staff are warm, professional and knowledgable and happy to give recommendations about the food or wine menu. Can’t recommend it enough!
