I've been to MKT several times in the past few months, and have been thinking of writing a review for some time because of how incredibly disappointing their food is. MKT looks like the kind of trendy beer hall that should have great food options, but after trying 3 different menu items, I decided that I'd stick to $2.24 beers on Thursday nights. What finally led me to writing a review is the experience I had there last night. MKT is popular for its immense selection of beers, and my celiac friend who normally has to drink wine on our Beer Thursdays was excited to try a gluten-free beer. All seemed fine with her first beer, until they brought her a second one. The two beers were obviously different; the first was cloudy, and the second was clear. However, when we brought this up with our server, we were told that the first beer was from "the bottom of the old keg" and the second beer was from the "top of the new keg". A quick sampling of last dregs of the first beer by the others at the table revealed that it was Alley Kat Aprikat, which certainly is not gluten-free.Ultimately, this was the bartenders' fault. But conveniently for them, only the server and manager had to try do damage-control, and only my celiac friend will truly have to suffer the consequences. Mistakes happen, but the fact that they argued with us that the two beers were the same was the nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. While I understand that the recent fad of "gluten sensitivity" can be frustrating for the service industry, a laissez-faire attitude towards it is not a risk they should be willing to take.
This is a good food place and was good service. The only issue is it is a little loud but I guess that is to be expected. It's what I would expect from a century property.
Nice lunch on the patio. Oriented to young adults. Historic site makes it a very pleasant place. Menu ok Service good.
Stopped in during the Whyte Ave. block party on July 2, 2017 Very nice location with a great patio that is well staffed and you wait for nothing. The Duck spring rolls were awesome
