We put our name in, came back an hour later to find that they didn't save it. They did get us sat right away though because the host remembered us, thankfully. We got the mussels and they were just simply not great. The broth was quite good but the mussels were terribly fishy. Cocktails were good! Delicious even. I had the sprig and berry and it was fruity and fun and everything I hoped for. My husband got the Hatfield and the McCoy and enjoyed them both. We also got a waiting area drink and the pours there were heavy lol. The service was excellent, our waitress was so attentive. However. There was a pretty significant mix up that led to a domino effect that lasted quite a while that our waitress wasn't responsible for it was a food runner mix up combined with the seats next to us accepting the food that they knew they didn't order. The other patrons confirmed with us that's what happened, he ordered shrimp and grits and accepted ... the steak... which was weird and caused them to get the wrong food much sooner than they would've, and since meals are made to order we got ours much later since it had to be remade. I was pretty peeved but not at the restaurant although perhaps the food runner should have confirmed the seats. There is a lot of seating that runs along the balcony to highlight the view of the mountains so the seats should be numbered and the food runners should know them to prevent this specific issue. Because clearly some people will just take the wrong food (and EAT IT! They literally ate the steak they didn't order... I'm still flabbergasted). Anyway, the steak was quite good, blue cheese sauce was the right mix for it. The trout was just ok, if they went a little more liberal with the brown sugar glaze I would've liked it more. The grits were congealed rather than creamy. I'll be back for the view, the drinks, and the steak.
I am a local to Ellijay and have frequented this restaurant several times. Today was completely different. There were multiple tables available inside and outside but needed to wait 30 minutes to move from one outside bar top area to another bar top area, to receive food service. After about 20-25 minutes are waitress stopped to check on us and told us our food would be out shortly there were 2 orders in front of ours. While the waitress was still there are food was brought to us by another waitress. Was not sure what that was about. As we started eating, my wife and I both realized quickly what it was about. Are food was cold, as if it had been sitting a very long time. My wife's hamburger was very dry like eating paper and completely tasteless. My meatloaf was very bland as well, that is why they top it with apple butter. Also, the canned green beans that was provided with my meal is something I could have easily have done by going to the grocery store. The views there were great. The food absolutely awful. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not sure what has changed, but there food and service are awful.
Had the best random lunch experience at the roof today in Ellijay. I know, where the f is Ellijay. I ventured here from scruffy city Knoxville to meet up with some Florida friends. We met Matt, one of the owners I believe. He made us feel so comfortable and was just so kind. Gabriel our waiter was more than you could ever ask for in a waiter. The food speaks for itself. 5 stars all around. What an incredible experience. Thank you.
Pricey but good. Great dining experience. Very unique and great service. That's all I got..
Due to duplication issue This review is from June 17th. It doesn 't reflect what the business is doing currently. We are staying in this area for 6 weeks and really wanted to spend time supporting the locals, especially our family restaurants. However, like all my reviews, I strongly believe in telling both the good and bad. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday to drink and eat dinner. We would have loved to make reservations but they don 't take them and had to put our name in and wait 40 min. The bar is first come first serve and as soon as we saw and opening with grabbed them and decided to eat at the bar. Loved the local vibe. We sat next to locals and great conversations about the local area. Ambience was as expected for a roof top restaurant. Service: not impressed. The bartender was very unwelcoming. I think she was a bit overwhelmed. We put in an order for apps first. And waited ... and waited ... and waited. Finally after like 30 min the apps rolled out. We got the Bologna Sliders and the Shrimp cakes. Food is on point. The Bologna sliders were amazing. My only complaint would be maybe a little but more bologna. But really good. The shrimp cake was amazing. We ordered our meals also before the apps came out and it was slow going. We inquired on why it was taking so long she said the kitchen was backed up. I get it. People are understaffed. However, I feel the process may be off. We got the steak with mash and seasonal vegetables, trout, fried chicken pasta, and the burger with bacon and eggs. Overall the food was amazing. Flavors were great, cooked right, and definitely a good reward for the wait. The only thing I would say is corn on the cob is not typically one would expect with a seasonal vegetable. The waitress should always tell people what it is first. Ended up not really being Eaten. Overall Amazing Food, Decent Ambiance, Ehhhh Service. I would go back but maybe off hours or just lower my expectations on how quickly the food would come out. Who am I: I have traveled the world including 67 countries and 32 US states and have had the opportunity to eat at over 500 Michelin star restaurants and dined with several international chefs. I believe that every restaurant has opportunities to grow and consider myself fair but critical.
