Will never go again. Went for the first time with my dog and it didn’t occur to me that dogs were not allowed as I usually go in chicago and dogs are allowed and welcomed at all of the markets I’ve been to. I didn’t see a sign, and walked in with other people who also had dogs on leashes. I’ve been very sick for a long time and this was my first outing outside of my neighborhood in chicago. The security people screamed at us in a violent and humiliating manner and accused me of lying when I said I didn’t realize dogs were not allowed, and that I didn’t see the signs. They kept screaming at all of us as we tried to leave, and were very abusive and threatening. It was very violent and aggressive and shocking and abusive, I will never return. The security people seemed as if they wanted to escalate conflict and violence. None of us wanted that, but imagine what could have happened if someone responded at their aggressive level? Why are these people not trained? All they had to do was quietly and kindly say, “dogs aren’t allowed at this market.” It felt deeply classist as well. I am so thankful I live in chicago. This turned me off so much that I decided I will not ever support any business in Evanston, ever. (This has nothing to do with the farmers as many of the same vendors also are at the markets in chicago and are great. This is about the city of Evanston and the security guards they have not bothered to train)
Go to Fred's Bread, he's a chef from France, he makes the best authentic French baked goods in The Midwest!
Fabulous selection, even on a rainy dayOnly problem: no place to get a coffee or latte like last year. No quick breakfast options, only the crepe place.
Truly one of the most underwhelming farmer's markets I've been too.The biggest disappointment is the lack of food/food trucks. There's a extremely mediocre Mexican tent with bland food, especially the breakfast tacos. There's also a standard crepe tent. That's it.No entertainment other than occasional students from NW performing for tips.Ugly parking lot with no flow. Two hidden porta-potties in the parking garage.Food is wildly expensive, not always for higher quality.
