However, I'm not sure if the $80 for the boat meal is worth it, maybe closer to $60 would be more reasonable. There are other places in the city that offer similar quality food at a lower price. The portions are a bit small, but the variety of sake options is impressive. The fried ice cream was decent, a bit undercooked but still tasty. The decor and the owner's dedication to the business will definitely make us return. It's interesting to note that the fish is imported from Japan, and the owner is quite knowledgeable about it. Overall, the experience was great and the food was authentic, not a counterfeit like many seafood items around the world.
I had a great experience dining at Chakara with my family. The restaurant is gluten-free friendly, uses fresh ingredients, and has a well-informed staff. My boyfriend and I ordered the sushi for two platter, which was delicious. You can see a picture of it below.
Andy, the owner of Chakara, takes great care in ensuring the food and service are top-notch. I have visited Chakara multiple times for both take-out and dining in, and I have never been disappointed with the cocktails or the food. My personal favorite cocktail is the dirty martini, while my mother adores the sautéed noodles. I enjoy trying out different items on the menu, and the recent shipment of Uni (Sea Urchin) was absolutely incredible. I can't wait for the restaurant to receive another shipment soon! I have shared some photos of the uni and other sushi dishes I have tried, but they truly do not capture how amazing the food is at Chakara.
My wife said it was the worst food she has ever had from a restaurant and I agree. We had takeout and paid full menu prices with a mandatory 15% gratuity. We both got Pad Thai, a dish I 've had dozens of times at dozens of restaurants, and it was justsad. Dry, bright orange noodles with some flavorless chicken bits in mine and tofu for my wife. She said the tofu tasted andfelt like a piece of sponge. I didn 't believe her, so I tried it, and yeah it was that bad. Enough sauce to adequately flavorthe noodles would have been a good start. I 'm shocked when looking at all the reviews of diners who sat in the restaurant andI 'm wondering if they would have served such poor food to me in person. Honestly, I would have sent it back, which is somethingI 've never done. Reading the about tab on their website, I don 't feel the ... passion to create outstanding food... was wellrepresented in what they gave me. Each dish is distinctive and handcrafted my master chefs... is also really hard to believe. If the alleged master chef ever reads this, I would challenge them to serve the takeout version of their Pad Thai to anotherchef and see if they 're still taken seriously.
Thanks to the other reviewers for rating this place so highly because it got us to try it out and the reviews are true some of the best sushi around. They have a ton of appetizers, which are great to share with your group. Their soups are outstanding. They have a sake flight which is unique and tasty. For non drinkers, they have a ton of hot teas to choose from. All of thesushi I’ve had there so far on my four trips had been incredible. Beautifully presented, and the sashimi and the cooked sushirolls are all fantastic. Their menu is massive, so it gives me plenty of opportunities to try out more of their delicious food!
