We stopped by today (3/24) for a pastry. Honestly nothing looked that great or fresh but my son opted for a piece of coffee cake. I asked for it to be warmed up...so the woman working there (short red hair) put it in the microwave (still wrapped in plastic...gross but whatever). We take it to-go and my fiancé takes the first bite...a bite of mold that is. We take it back in and let the woman know there is mold and that we would like our money back. She apologizes and provides a refund. We ask how often pastries are made and she casually says once a week on Tuesdays or Wednesdays . So there is mold on the coffee cake one or two days after being baked? She says well we don 't want to waste it! After a closer look, we hear the woman tell her coworker that all the coffee cake in the case was 10 days old. Lesson learned: you can assume pastries individually wrapped in plastic are not fresh and if you do take the risk, inspect your food closely before eating!!! We ended up going to BJ 's instead and the coffee cake was fresh and very good.
Amazing recipes, amazing service, amazing place. Yet another gem in the Grove. I def recommend!
Quaint, friendly staff and the food as well as the Black Tie cake is AMAZING!
Try the Monte Cristo sandwich. It is not heavily battered, and not the traditional version I have tried previously. Thick homemade bread, delicious raspberry jam. They unfortunately forgot the powdered sugar. The Aphrodite salad was amazing. Cesar dressing went well with it, healthy portions of artichokes and olives. The festive King Cake was fun and delicious. Saving the brownies and snickerdoodle cookies for later. Nice homemade food. Fresh ingredients and full of flavor. Cozy small establishment, friendly and helpful, also prompt. I would recommend Bella Donna's if you are in Forest Grove.
