Very disappointing visit to Le Coin Francais. Staff were very nice and engaging, but incredibly slow service. After an hour at the restaurant, we only had one small glass of wine (we did the wine pairings) and a starter course. When the food eventually did come, it was a huge disappointment. The flavors were bland, uninventive, and just didn’t mesh well together. The food just wasn’t good. At this price point, you really expect better. Based on some of the other recent reviews, it seems there has been some turnover in the kitchen. Unless that changes, I’d look elsewhere. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
Disappointing experience. We went for the chefs journey with wine pairing. The pairing is marked up 200 rand but no extra wine is served with the additional dishes. The wine servings are tiny compared to any wine tasting in Franschoek. The food is ok but often unbalanced with overpowering elements in the dish. The langoustine might be the exception. Service is good, no complaints there, but the experience itself is extremely poor value and the only one we regret in 3 weeks in South Africa.
World class restaurant with excellent menu. Chef Darren has created his own beautiful space with every dish on the tasting menu done to perfection Simple, unique, well balanced and brimming with flavor. Service by Jasper, Webster and their colleagues was impeccable. We had a very special evening and will be back.
3 girls on a girls weekend. We walked into the restaurant without a booking and were treated like royalty, the waiter was amazing, the manager was a star. What an amazing meal, every dish was delicious. Would highly recommend and will definetly go again.
