I really enjoy the food here, and the portions are fantastic. However, I won't be returning. I have a toddler, and one of the guests thought it was okay to speak negatively about my child.

The food is usually outstanding; however, today it was below average (I only gave the food 3 stars because the catfish was excellent). The fried chicken looked appealing, but two out of the three meals had a burnt flavor (the third was the catfish), and it wasn’t seasoned like it used to be. We’ve always considered their fried chicken to be among the best, but if this had been our first visit, I’m not sure we would return. The mac and cheese was not good, the dressing was gritty, and the mashed potatoes lacked flavor. I’m not certain if the chicken batter recipe has changed, but if it has, I hope they revert to the previous recipe. This may just have been one of those off days, so we’ll give it another try in the future.

My first visit went well. However, I was really hungry, so I’ll try to come earlier next time.

Such a great place to eat. The staff is phenomenal... Happy, talkative, makes you feel warm and welcome. The portions are big, and everything I've tried is top notch. I had the liver and catfish, and it was fantastic soul food. You can always count on a great meal at a reasonable price here. My favorite side dish is the wonderfully simple macaroni and tomatoes. I usually opt for either the chicken livers or catfish. The chicken dressing and chicken and dumplings are also top-notch. The staff is consistently sweet and incredibly friendly. I love this place!
