Enoteca Masseria Delle Grazie

The place itself is not central, or it does not have a fancy aspect or location. It's located in the outskirts of the city of Castellammare. When you finally get there, this tiny little bodega does not look like much, but with its selection of 1500 local wines and a its wide range of cured meats, cheeses and preserved vegetables it really makes up for the non-central and small location. The owner, Mimmo, is an experienced sommelier who has served very important guests among the Italian celebrities, and is also a distributor of fine wines to other wineries located between Salerno and Naples. I have had the pleasure to visit his winery on a Thursday evening, because of a small blues concert which was happening there. I think i have never enjoyed a better wine while listening to better music. Mimmo was always walking around the tables (the place hosts up to 20-30 ppl max) asking his customers how it was going and if he could have done anything to make them enjoy the evening even better. I have been around wineries in Europe, and I have never seen the owner of any of them be more concerned about how his customers were enjoying the evening then Mimmo was. At the end of the evening, he cared to bid farewell to all the customers he served, and told them he hoped to see them again soon, even if they just came around to say hi and hang out. The winery has been opened for 2 years now, and it has always been true to its high quality standards and care for customers; the other wineries in the area have abandoned their initial status, and evolved into bar/wineries/restaurants, forgetting what it meant to offer the diner an experience which will always stay with him/her for the rest of their life: trust me, I am not overselling it. But still, the only way you can prove me wrong is to go and try for yourself. So, next time you find yourself on the Sorrento coast, Amalfi coast or outside Napoli, you ought to pay a visit to this small little haven who can offer you treasures only the ancient Romans have had the pleasure to taste every day.
