Lovely wine menu, roast lamb was delicious not overly a lot of meat but fine for me. Potatoes and veg were 100%. Plenty of gravy and extras. The pasta dish was tasty slightly small. The coffees and dessert of cheesecake was delicious. The best thing about our meal was TYLER he made our lunch he was excellent ! Such a happy friendly member of staff !!! He really made us laugh !
We were a party of 16 in the garden room cool temperature! we had to pay a deposit and preorder. The burgers were great. The other food was mediocre small portions, not meeting its description and we had to wait such that by the time everyone had their meal some meals were cold. If you take pre orders this should not happen. The cricketers is expensive and disappointing. The portion size was small, the food is very tasty but price ratio to portion is poor
I visited today with my friends for a birthday meal. When we arrived they hadn’t laid our table and told to buy a drink in the bar and would he call through. The restaurant was empty so why was the table not ready? Our first waiter was really lovely! Let us take our time with choosing our meals and couldn’t do enough. Sadly his shift finished halfway through and from then on hardly saw a waiter. The food was okay. My friend had the fish cake, she paid £16 for one fish cake! Nothing else came with it, she was still hungry at the end and had to order some chips. Quite embarrassing. My other friend ordered the pasta but the pasta stipulated on the menu was not the pasta she got. I had fish and chips. The batter was burnt and the batter inside was gloopy. I left half of it. But the chips and peas were really nice! The pudding was nice but £9.25 for a slither (not a slice) of cheesecake is hugely overpriced. Especially for something that I can get in Tesco for a third of the price. Once we received our desserts, we didn’t see any waiter or anyone for over half an hour. We had to go to the bar to ask for the bill, of which after 15 minutes still no bill. So asked again! Then to throw on top an £18 service charge when the service was quite poor for half of it is quite cheeky. Pros: fab veggie menu, toilets clean and the general feel of place has a good vibe. Cons: SO OVERPRICED!
6 of us went there for a birthday treat but sadly things went horribly wrong. We were only the second table to be seated. The waiter, Karl, was amazing. He was brilliant. However, the starters, scallops, could hardly be seen. The French onion soup was just like thick bisto with skin on the top. It was to get worse! The main courses took another hour to arrive by which time other guests were seated who were served before us. The Fish and chips was burnt, very dark brown batter, but inside was raw, gloopy, half inch thick batter. Beef burgers were burnt, very burnt. Chicken burger was over done therefore very dry. Chips were very fatty, you could see through them. Chicken “pie” was in a small bowl, starter or soup size, with a slice of sour dough bread as the topping, very dry and disappointing. We didn’t need to say anything because Karl was very aware of what was happening. He was great. Lovely man. The management was no where to be seen.
Had lunch with my sister there lovely and cosy staff made you feel very welcome club sandwich and a coffee and cake went down a treat . Would highly recommend
