The woman, who I believe was the manager, told me "we can't do that because it's not our usual way of operating." I mentioned that they had made one for me last time, to which she responded, "it depends on how busy we are." Despite being the only customer in the shop, I was told, "would you like to come in here and make it yourself? I have explained why, I'm not here to argue with you. The staff have been here since 08:30, what have you done today?" Feeling uncomfortable with her aggressive tone, I decided to ask for a refund and left. It's disappointing because I have always enjoyed the baguettes at Abersoch deli. However, I will not be returning as a plain ham baguette should not have been a difficult request and I did not appreciate the way I was spoken to.
We decided to have lunch here after always enjoying their food. We ordered baguettes and pasties, which were all very delicious. However, the tuna baguette was supposed to have tuna and sweetcorn, but there was hardly any sweetcorn and a lot of red onion instead. The red onion was not listed on the label, and since I cannot eat onion, I had to pick it out, which was a bit frustrating. Next time, I will ask for a freshly made one to ensure I know all the ingredients included.
I was impressed by the selection of high-quality sandwiches at this restaurant. I was initially surprised to see them pre-made in the display case, as I had expected a build-your-own sandwich concept. However, I would definitely come back again. The Brie and bacon baguette I had was delicious! My husband enjoyed his pie, which was generously filled and delicious as well.
Abersoch deli is a bit of an institution and a must do on all of our trips. The baguettes make a decent, filling lunch and have a variety of fillings Brie and cranberry is my favourite. They also have a hot pastries counter we love the sausage rolls and cheese and onion pasties. There isn’t much seating outside and it’s often a bit dwarfed by the queuing customers so we always take our lunch up to the anchors 2 mins away where there are benches and a sea view.
Good little butty shop this, wide selection of options plus pies etc. Little bit on the expensive side to be honest for how good they are, certainly had better for a fraction of the price. But if you are in the area and need a butty this is the place to go.
