J Restaurant Bar - Hartford

We were seeing a show at the Bushnell and not familiar with Hartford restaurants took a chance on J Restaurant. It was fantastic! Great food and great service! Definitely recommend.

Really great service. It may sound silly, but I watched one of the staff clear and wipe down an outside table and he actually cleaned it, not just a quick wipe. He got into the open metal pattern to get residue out. You don't often see that attention to detail. This staff is obviously well trained. Our server, Gabby, was engaged and pleasant. Food was delicious. I'm hoping they move to a new location . I'd love to eat here everytime we come into town for a show at the Bushnell.

It's been a long time since we've eaten at J's and returned to some great meals. Try the fried mozzarella and the soup special was delicious!

I can only give them three stars because it's my first time and I only ordered a mozzarella pizza. The pizza was pretty good was not the best pizza ever but it had a very fresh taste and that taste was that of authentic pizza it tasted like it had proper tomatoes and mozzarella the crust was excellent all I needed was some garlic butter spread across it and it would have been some of the best crust ever had!The price was very fair and competitive with other Pizza spots it was better than some and up to par with others yes I will recommend it if you are in the area but would I drive from out of town to try it, to be truthful I'm a foodie so yes I would but after trying it would I come back? A great dining experience, as always! We've eaten at J a half dozen or so times over the years. J is consistently excellent. Whether you're going “classic” with Filet Mignon or being more adventurous with Veal Milanese, you won't be disappointed! My veal was perfectly done, tender, hot, yet crunchy with a wonderfully light arugula side. My partner's Haddock was excellent with perfectly roasted potato wedges. The ambience was lively, busy and a little noisy on this particular evening, Service was efficient and professional. A very nice way to start our evening!
