Our lunch here was a catastrophe of errors and the food wasn't good. They lost our order and although apologetic we then waited ages for it to arrive once we had re-ordered. My glass of water had a hair in it and my fish burger with salad turned out to be a lonely and rather unappetising fish cake (which wasn't nice) in a bun with one slice of tomato and a little lettuce. This can hardly be construed as a salad. There was no garnish on the plate so the thing just sat there in the middle of the plate. They forgot the chips which we expected to be a decent size portion given the price but after I pointed out that we were still waiting for them. We were then presented with the smallest basket of fries (not chips) that I have ever seen. Nowhere near enough for 2 people so I let my husband eat them whilst I forced down the fishcake burger. We did tell the staff that it was one of the worst dining experiences we had ever had.
Okay, it is a simple eating establishment with some outside tables amid a lot of competition nearby. The weather was awful but had just hit a brief dry spell. The lady cleaning the tables asked if we wanted a menu and fetched one, then I ordered 2 coffees and 2 teacakes with specific request for butter to be given separately and not on the teacakes. Coffees arrived nicely presented and hot followed by the teacakes already buttered which the lady who had taken the order saw and came over to apologise and asked if we wanted them replaced. I was okay with them but my partner does not like items buttered, she likes to do that herself, so her teacake was replaced with no fuss and more apology. Now, this is only really a small issue but the customer service, friendliness and prompt attention to correcting a mistake was fantastic and showed up the grumpy, bullying service we received later in the day at another establishment in the town. Thumbs up to the Cafe Club for their excellent service and staff willingness to make the customer experience a positive one.
Day out before the kids go back to school stopped here for breakfast service was extremely slow and hot drinks were served cold, veggie breakfast sausage was still frozen inside
Picture perfect British cafe breakfast. When suffering a hangover, the stuff of dreams. Great coffee and the most polite and attentive service too :
