Daily specials are excellent and the price/value is great. Wonderful service, good food and reasonable prices-the best... in town
What a treat to have a few tacos in a nice restaurant, say hello to the locals and enjoy some live music....all for a few mice. Literally! You also have a really nice menu... but the dollar tacos are a wonderful treat! Last...We had 5 tacos, 2 beers and a large mineral water (Topo,Chico), and with the top, it was just over $10!!!
Where do I start? Like Prime Rib?? Go to Tortugas on Friday night, but call for reservations. Had a birthday party, so 8 people for dinner. Reserved a table in the main dining room. As soon as we set ourselves, our waiter was there for our drinks order. One minute later, two waiters were at our table with fresh rolls and a fresh, locally produced Pesto diving sauce that was incredible. I think we made 4 baskets of rolls before the night was over. Appetizers, salads were really good. My wife loved the beet salad. But the actual story here is the thick cut 3 medium rare prime rib with spread beans and oven roasted potatoes. My God! It was perfectly boiled, the outer crispy crust was perfectly seasoned and had a wine reduction and hollandaise sauces for diving. Also the owner Philipe, stopped at the table to welcome us all. Great experience at every level. Go and enjoy.
We've eaten three times in La Tortuga. And after the Beef Wellington Special last night, my husband wants to do it 4 times! The staff is amazing. The restaurant is clean and beautiful. The Maitre d' is the master of all things necessary to make this San Carlos chess a smooth run. And the singer is a star. Most of the menu items are delicious. The shrimp bisque is wonderful as the Vichysoisse. The onion soup reminiscent of the campbell soup. It could take attention. But we tried the Sea Bass perfection, and the Beef Wellington perfection and have La Tortuga as our favorite restaurant in San Carlos. The ribbed eye and the fillet were all right and not quite the standards we saw with the other crazy. However, it was a holiday weekend and could have been just a problem with the available cuts. In any case, the place will appeal for young and old and in between. It is romantic and it is worth looking for an amazing culinary experience.
