Sarussi Cafeteria And - Hialeah

After watching Man vs. Food on the Travel Channel, I was excited to try the Sarussi Original 16 sandwich for $11.64. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a big disappointment! Lidia, the waitress, seemed irritated that I didn't speak Spanish, and thankfully, a young couple at the counter assisted me with my order. The bread had a nicely toasted crust, but it was otherwise flavorless. The smoked ham, baked pork, and mozzarella cheese were all dry, and the so-called secret sauce was nearly absent. Sorry, but I have to give Sarussi a definite thumbs down.

The food seems to have lost its quality. When I walked in, all the staff were discussing how sick they felt, mentioning cold and fever symptoms, and one even said she felt really unwell the night before. Food rating: 3/5.

I had a disappointing experience today. I visited this restaurant and ordered a steak sandwich, clearly specifying all the toppings I wanted. When my sandwich arrived, it was missing the lettuce I had requested. I went back inside to let them know about the missing lettuce, and there was a lengthy discussion about adding it. Eventually, they decided to charge me $1 for the lettuce, which a fellow customer had to translate for them in Spanish. Even that customer was shocked that they charged me for it. To make matters worse, the bread on my sandwich was overcooked. I ended up wasting my money and tossing the entire sandwich. I won’t be ordering from here again; it feels as though they treat you differently if you don't speak their language.

The restaurant closes too early, especially since most people go out to dine around 6:00 or 7:00. However, they shut their doors at 8:00 PM, which could lead them to bankruptcy. Food rating: 3/5.

It's the best Cuban sandwich I've had anywhere. Portions size is good. Meat was tender, not to chewy. Don't eat another Cuban sandwich, to you've tried theirs... I'm hooked. Been going there when I can, for over 16 yrs.Food: 5/5
