Simply stunning flavours as if Uri Geller designed the cutlery, and a member of the Magic Circle planned the menu the wizard himself may appear at the end of the meal. Book in advance! Wonderful flavours and memories.
Local Dr really wants to be a 5* chef. Read the reviews on TA and booked a year in advance for when we were on our NC500 trip. There were 7 of us eating on the evening we visited, this is a truly unique dining experience, 13 courses of various gastronomical genius that we really enjoyed. Trying to guess what would be presented from the title on the menu and what actually arrived proved impossible. If you are looking for a plateful of pie and chips this place will disappoint, if you are after something a bit different give it a go. Certainly more creativity shown by Chris than some celebrity chef “taster menus” which seem fairly standard when compared to what Chris thinks up and concocts in his small kitchen. We didn’t have the wine taster flight as 9 glasses of alcohol would certainly be to much and the glass measures were certainly on the large size, not just a small samplers!! Nice to be able to converse with the other diners as the evening progressed and also to chat to Chris and his wife Tina who served during the evening.
This was my third trip to Côte Du Nord I have decided that this is where I want to go to celebrate my birthday every year, as it’s such a wonderful treat and different experience. Every time has been excellent but this visit, I think was my favourite so far. I have left a review for Côte Du Nord before, but felt I wanted to do it again as I realised this is probably the only place I have been and can’t note a single fault y’know, sometimes you get great food with terrible service or brilliant service but sub par food… but not with Côte Du Nord. The dishes are so complex and must be quite technically difficult but everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The service was also excellent you get a vague menu when you arrive, that says things like “Côte Du Nord Canapés” or just “raspberry” so as not to give anything away to the diners and then each dish is explained to you by the waiting staff when they bring it to you (along with explanations of each accompanying wine of you chose to have the accompanying wine flight , which can’t be easy! It’s a lot to remember! It has a nice atmosphere too, and obviously I did not see the kitchen but based on the dining room and toilet I am willing to bet it is extremely clean. You can tell that Chris really has a passion for what he does and a lot of thought has gone into every dish. I think it is extremely reasonably priced as well, once you actually realise how much you’re getting, the quality of the ingredients (things like turbot and langoustine are not cheap! , and how much thought and hard work has gone in to it. A lot of people have said to me “ohh no I really couldn’t do that” referring to the fact that you don’t have any idea of what you’re getting served once you get there and you have got no choice (other than being able to have a vegetarian, pescatarian gluten free version and informing Chris of any allergies before hand at the time of booking but I think you need to leave all motion of what you think you like and dislike behind when you go to Côte Du Nord, I have enjoyed everything I have had from there and there have been quite a few things on offer that I don’t normally like, my boyfriend and I are really not lovers of fish but have loved every fishy mouthful we’ve had at Côte Du Nord! Going to Côte Du Nord is more than just going out for a nice meal, it’s an entire experience for all 5 senses with the atmosphere and unusual presentation. I cannot speak highly enough of Côte Du Nord, the chef and the waiting staff. I have already booked my next visit a whole year in advance! My only complaint is how our of the way it is and that I can’t go more often!
This is a fantastic 10 course tasting menu, which is not so much a meal as a culinary performance of the highest standard. Each dish is inventive and wonderfully tasty, presented with style on beautiful pottery/crockery. Chris and his staff are very warm and welcoming and give a full and jovial commentary on the dishes. It was a very special evening in a wonderful setting.
A fantastic tasting menu of great entertainment. Each of the ten courses was inspirational with great depth of flavour. Very intimate surroundings with only 8 covers. We were made to feel most comfortable.
