Contribuer aux commentairesBlumming awful.Went to The Rio Pizzeria.Upon entering the restaurant there was an American couple complaining about their meal, probably should have rung alarm bells. They we’re the only other people in there, but it was a Thursday so maybe not a ‘busy’ night. The decor of the place and general look was that it needed a good clean and refurb. Ordered the garlic bread to start with to share with my partner. It was advertised on the menu as a pizza garlic bread. It came, and it was 3 slices of frozen slices, and a bit of salad. Decided on a pizza for mains. Both of us ordered the same. The Godfather,a spicy one with chicken and chillies on.When it arrived it was nothing like the description. The chicken tasted like it was chicken that had been prepared for the curries(.The menu also had a list of Indian curries you could have). There was no chillies in sight and it was covered in loads of mozzarella.Tasteless.Mentioned it to the waiter but he couldn’t understand anything we were saying, not sure if it might have been our. broad Yorkshire accentsJust paid and was glad to get out.
During our stay at the hotel, we enjoyed a delicious evening meal at the restaurant. The meal was excellent, and the service provided by the young bartender was top-notch. The staff were very friendly, and we are excited to try the breakfast in the morning.
We have dined at this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed the delicious food, welcoming staff, and cozy atmosphere. The price for a three-course meal in the evening is very reasonable. We definitely plan on returning this year.
The trout with sauce and vegetables was delicious! We showed up without a reservation on a rainy night and they were able to accommodate us after a short wait. The service was friendly and quick. While the furniture may be a little dated, it didn't matter much when we were hungry and cold.
I read previous reviews stating the hotel was in need of an update but decided to book because of the location. We arrived by train and had a short walk to the hotel. The room had two twin beds which were reasonably comfortable. The decor is lackluster but room was tidy though small. We asked for a first floor (up a flight of stairs) and were accommodated. I would suggest skipping the breakfast if you want a hot meal fine for yogurt, toast, juice and coffee. The rest is pretty inedible. We found it very convenient to the shops and restaurants on High Street. I would return if the price was right.
