Their selection is impressive and the food quality is top-notch compared to other charcoal chicken restaurants I've been to. I've never gotten sick from eating here, and I've even tried some less-than-fresh items without any problems. But nothing can compare to their Charcoal Chicken and Chips - the best I've ever had.
This charcoal chicken shop sets the gold standard for all others in the industry. They serve perfectly crispy chips with just the right amount of salt, consistently delicious chicken that is never dry or undercooked, and perfectly seasoned. Their chicken rolls are made with fresh chicken and tasty mayo, while the gravy is the perfect consistency. They also offer fluffy, golden roast potatoes and unpretentious, tasty fried chicken. The schnitzel rolls are huge and taste amazing. While the store may not be fancy, the efficient service and fresh, well-priced food more than make up for it. What more could you ask for in a chicken shop?
I have a special affection for the classic charcoal chicken from Pier Street. I would always find myself here after school for a bag of chips with gravy. The generous portion sizes are unbeatable, and I especially enjoy their fresh and crispy chips. Their deals on affordable chickens, burgers, and rolls are always a hit. Here's to the enduring popularity of charcoal chicken.
Don't let their run down appearance turn you away! There is a reason this place is always full. One of the best chicken rolls I have ever had! In fact, they could only make it better by adding one or 2 extra things onto it such as a bit of red onion. The chicken is never dry and they don't have huge wait times or prices. They have quite a large menu but I have never had anything bad from here in the last 14 years. They could, however, do with a bit of a revamp as they look a bit run down.
Been coming to this chicken shop since i moved to the area around 6 years ago. The quality of the chicken is great , always cooked well and chicken is never dry. the chips are the best around they are cooked to order. The highlight is the chicken schnitzel roll my husband swears by it, it also great value for money. This has been our weekly treat for take away i don't see myself going else where any time soon.
