Delicious food, great service. We will definitely return!
The Cow and Fish is a wonderful restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and plated beautifully. The wine and drink selections are great. The sangria is delicious. My favorite dish is their salmon which is cooked to perfection every time. Most restaurants overcook it. Make sure to try their mussels with beurre blanc sauce. This restaurant is a real gem for our area.
I mostly enjoyed the food at Cow Fish restaurant, but I have some suggestions and observations. The ambiance was not what I expected, and if I had seen photos on their website, I probably would not have gone. The restaurant serves $28-$32 plates of food, but the atmosphere is more like a pub. They could improve by changing their decor, adding linen tablecloths and napkins, and making their own salad dressings. I was surprised when they served mussels with grilled bread that had a greasy taste. I expected olive oil, crusty bread, and garlic with a Mediterranean influence. The mussels were good, but there was no broth for the toast they provided. The Cajun fish bites were made with local perch, but were not served with a sauce. The waitress brought bottled tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Our bill was almost $200 (including $48 for a bottle of wine), but the decor and ambiance did not justify the price. With a few tweaks, such as improving the decor, using linen on tables, and making their own dressings, sauces, and desserts, the restaurant could be worth a second visit. Otherwise, they should stick to selling pub food.
I didn't get a chance to try the food at this restaurant because when we sat down, they only had 3 items available on the menu, even though it was only 7pm on a Saturday. They were out of the crabs that are a main ingredient in most of their dishes, as well as steak, scallops, and other Italian main ingredients. We were very disappointed and not interested in trying anything else on the menu, so we decided to leave. We had heard great things about The Cow and the Fish, so our experience at this restaurant was a letdown.
