Hong Kong Kitchen - Inverness

I have to admit, I was a bit concerned before ordering. There were quite a few negative reviews, and the restaurant didn't have a hygiene rating. However, it was the only option available on Uber Eats, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was genuine Chinese cuisine, with a wide variety of dishes and great flavors. I’m not sure if I just got lucky, but I really don’t have any complaints. I ordered from the hotel next to Inverness Airport, so they added an extra £3 on top of the delivery fee, which was reasonable. I also appreciated that someone from the restaurant called me after I placed my order to confirm the delivery time.

We had a truly disappointing experience with the service. My husband ordered delivery through Just Eat, but our food arrived late. When we called to inquire, we were told that there was no record of our order, even though we had placed one. When the food finally arrived, every dish was overly vinegar-flavored and disturbingly watery. It was so unappetizing that we ended up throwing everything away and ordering from a different restaurant. I’m baffled that they can actually consider themselves a business while serving food of such poor quality.

A group of four of us ordered takeout, and I can honestly say everyone agreed it was the worst meal we’ve ever had. As a 76-year-old, I don’t say that lightly. The food arrived more than an hour late, and I suspect that was the only reason we managed to eat it. The salt and chili tofu lacked any flavor beyond that of flour, while the lamb skewers were so tough that my grandparents nearly lost their dentures trying to chew them. The other dishes were bland, and we received missing sauces along with chicken logs that were meant to be balls. The rice, the only redeeming part of the meal, was only satisfactory at best. We've been left with thoughts of perseverance, muttering phrases like “we’re starving but we’ll carry on.” Proceed with caution if you decide to order from here.

She was nice but was very reluctant to change the order she made wrong because she heard wrong. Also, she charged extra for an order that was off the menu but didn’t know how to make. Should have been honest to say it was not possible rather than trying to make a quick buck. Was charged 6 pounds for a drink that was not drinkable, had to chuck it immediately.

Do not order from here. Was told 15 minutes for delivery and over an hour and a half later still no delivery. Phoned the restaurant on numerous occasions to be told it was on its way, this was not the case. Was then given the option to pick up which was not feasible as we did not have a car. When the food finally arrived it tastes like it was all covered in salt and the crispy items were soft so it was clearly microwaved. Food was average but service was terrible. Avoid at all costs.
