I have always received excellent service, delicious food, and great drinks with no issues. There have been a few new staff members recently, so the service may not have been as quick as usual during my last visit. However, considering I have eaten here about 50 times, I still believe this restaurant deserves a 5-star rating!
Couldn’t fault the food the service from Jenny was fantastic. We booked a table for after the firework display (which was great) asked if we could be seated earlier than planned; they happily accommodated us. Portions were generous, food was delicious we were grateful that Jenny shared her local knowledge with us. Thank you!
We first ate here in February and it was lovely sadly this time it was appalling. We were sat in the bar even though the restaurant was at least 3/4 empty. We ordered the steak and ale pie which we had ordered on a previous visit this time it was not great taste was ok but parts of it were hard pastry was soggy, it looked like the pie had been sliced and left under heat for a long period of time as the sides of the pie mix were dry and hard and the chips looked and tasted like they were first cooked last Tuesday. My husband had mushy peas and you could count the amount on one hand. The desert menu was also very poor
Party of six popped in for a pint and snack, great friendly service and really good value food…. Would recommend and thank you
My husband Dave and I first ate at this restaurant earlier this year and yesterday was our fifth subsequent visit. We booked for Sunday lunch and, as ever, were welcomed and shown to our table by pleasant and knowledgeable staff. I ordered a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc while Dave plumped for a pint of Lees bitter which he described as nectar. We shared a starter of creamed garlic woodland mushrooms which were so tasty and which came with a portion of herb crème fraiche. We both opted for a vegan Sunday roast, admittedly with a degree of trepidation, having been served poor quality non meat food in the past at other establishments. I opted for no Yorkshire pudding, a wise move as the plate was full of the most delicious food that we have eaten this year. Dave and I are vegetarian and not vegan, a point worth mentioning when you order. We had intended to have a dessert, however we were so full that unfortunately we simply couldn’t manage to eat one on this occasion. The food served at this establishment is outstanding. The time and trouble taken in the preparation of the food and also the imagination and expertise shown is second to none. Keep on doing what you’re doing and we shall certainly keep on returning
