Today we visited Blue Fish for brunch and unfortunately while the food was pretty good the host at the front made the experience less than desirable from the start. The place could definitely use an adjustment customer service. Update: I had gone back to Blue Fish for a girlfriend's birthday one other time and the staff seemed more approachable. The food was fair, but we had to send a couple overly dry brunch dishes to be fixed. The experience was encouraging, though. With that said, today I went back with my mother and sister. The host at the desk was less than welcoming. They then attempted to sit us, with our mother in her 70's that clearly struggled to walk, at a high top table. Once food was received, they provided us with the pictured salt pepper shakers that don't only look terrible but also didn't work. The waitress never came back to check on us until after the other two in my part had finished eating the unseasoned food and sat waiting for some time after. My Mahi was rubbery and everything was overly bland. I didn't eat more than a few bites and am grateful that they took it off the bill. This place wants to be a high end restaurant, but it doesn't give that feel... it needs a complete overhall. I won't be back unfortunately, 3 times is enough for me.
I can really only speak to the bar. Blue Fish is my go to happy hour spot. It runs from 3-6 every day of the week with alcohol and food specials. I typically land on a dozen raw oysters for $13. Can't beat it. There is always a crowd so get there early if you have a bigger group.
First time visiting this place. Had the shrimp and grits. The food was great. The service was so-so, I'm going to chalk-it up to the servicer I had. She rarely came back to the table to fill my water. I had to ask her a couple of times for water. Also, she shorted me a $1.00 in my change. I told her I was just going to take it from the tip. She apologized and said she wasn't good at math. It was crowded and loud. Maybe because it was the week before Christmas. The tables were too close together. I could litterly lend over and touch my neighbor. I would give it another try just to see if my experience is different.
Tried to order takeout but the she crab soup was not available at lunch.
Ate outside because they lost our reservation. No parking anywhere in Avondale believe it.
