They offer a wonderful 2-course dinner for $5-9 with a variety of seafood options. We were initially hesitant about trying seafood in Jasper, but we were pleasantly surprised and not disappointed at all!
After visiting Jasper for the weekend we were lucky to taste most of the highly rated restaurants on the main street. This restaurant was by far the biggest disappointment. The food was very “prepacked” and simply polished. We ordered the wild game...leading mud, seafood cahowder and our children ordered a few things from the children's menu. The meat leaf was very much frozen and crumbled like sawdust with every bite, the potatoes were imitation and served classic ice bowl style and the kids food is all pre-boxed (forced Mac and cheese and highliner style fish only roasted) Our waitress was great and confirmed the boxing children “KD” and removed them from our tab. Service and ambience 10/10– but save yourself. Go to Evil Daves Grill if you are looking for a large ambience and elevated kitchen for the same price.
We started with the meatballs, which were delicious, followed by the Elch-Stroganoff which was also very good, although it had a lot of meat. The service was efficient and friendly. Overall, a pleasant dining experience!
Last night in Jasper, we decided to dine at Fiddle River. My husband is a very selective eater and it can be challenging to find a place he enjoys, but Fiddle River was perfect! The food was fantastic. For starters, I had the Calamari and for my main, I chose the red snapper with coconut and lentil rice and vegetables. Both dishes were delicious. My husband started with the cod cake and had the fish and chips for his main. The only "complaint" he had was that there were too many fries, but other than that, he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Fiddle River is one of our favourite Jasper restaurants. The view and ambience along with the delicious food and drinks and wonderful service make for a great evening out. Fiddle River can be counted on to have unique menu and drink options (loved the Sundog)...and are known for seafood and wild meat dishes. Though all four of us (parents and teens) enjoyed our meals, the standouts were the bison meatballs and the mussels with blue cheese sauce. The Arctic char spanikopita and elk stroganoff were also tasty. The service was fantastic once again. Fiddle River never disappoints. We also enjoy the Downstream bar downstairs in the same building another great place.
