This place is an old school, cash only, hole in the wall that makes delicious sandwiches on their fresh baked bread. A whole sub sets you back a whopping $7. Treat yourself to dessert with one of the huge cinnamon rolls they make $2) and you still pay less than the other sandwich shops in the area. Place is tiny inside and cash only. I'd recommend in covid times calling ahead to place your order or standing outside after you place your order. The owner wears a mask and keeps his distance behind the counter so you feel comfortable ordering. I just tell him to keep the change now when I get my sandwich because it's worth every penny.
Such a small little bakery but don't let the size fool you. They make amazing baked goods that will want you to come back. You can tell that this is where the locals have been going for ages and it isn't too hard to find out why. There is no seating in the place but it's more for coming in and getting something quick. They are a cash ONLY establishment. If you want to go to a real bakery with plenty of options please go to this place!
Been eating these delicious goodies since I was a kid in the early 80s. I now live in Ohio. I was so sad to get to NJ today and find out they were closed on Mondays. Can't wait until I'm back east again!
A classic, old school Italian sandwich place. Cash only. Not really a pastry/cake kind of bakery. But all the bread and rolls are made in-house. I tried several items, and everything was fantastic. The Italian Combo on Sausage Bread, was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Picture attached. The roast beef and mutz was very fresh and full of flavor. The meatball roll and pepperoni roll were good. Prices were very reasonable. No seats, everything to go. I was using mass transit that day, so I had to wait until I got back over near the PATH station to find a place to eat. The wait was killing me, the food was heavy (that's a good sign) and smelled great (an even better sign). I was not disappointed when I finally got to chow down!
Go for their talk of the town sandwiches or lasagna with meatballs, stay for their chocolate bread! This place is wonderful and I can 't believe after living in JC for a decade we are just now going to them. Every single thing they make is wonderful. Even just their 'regular ' bread !!! Prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for the value. So far we 've had their lasagna and meatballs, antipasto salad, cheesecake cookie and chocolate bread and it is all delicious. Would be a great place to order food for loved ones and do a surprise drop off.
