My husband and I had been to Chances upstairs a long time ago and enjoyed the steak sandwich, but unfortunately it was no longer on the menu when we went on New Year's. I ordered the Caesar salad with Tempura shrimp, but it wasn't very good - the bread was cold, dried out, and tasteless. Someone else in our group had the chicken breast with vegetables, and it seemed like the meal had been reheated in the microwave as the veggies were cold and the chicken was tough. Our food was ready within 5-10 minutes of ordering, which was disappointing. We decided to give our feedback to the waitress, who seemed pleasant but didn't seem to care much. We won't be returning to Chances and will opt for the snack bar instead. We understand it was a holiday, but that is no excuse for the subpar food and service we received.
A unique environment over Chances Casino a beautiful staircase. A top right is a sportsbook for horse racing. On the left, the restaurant is located in a half circle, so you don't get the big ROOM effect. Different seating style... from the usual table and chairs to the more lounge type (Too Low for Dining) and high chairs and tables (some have Electronic Gaming Devises). It was a Friday night, but no roughrid football game on, so it wasn't very crowded. They had no Greeter and were our first time that we were not sure to go and find a table or wait to sit, It was the former. Once sitting, a server immediately appeared with menus and ask for drinks. Reading the menu was soon obvious that the fair ran to Burgers at a Sports Bar. As a special event we chose the bread Wild Cod. I expected chip, but instead got Rice Pilaf (cold). I should have read the menu more carefully. For Veggies we have warm, RW carrots and cauliflowers. Not very appetizing. To defend the meal, the COD was excellent, well cooked and not too much bread. When our server cleared away, she asks if we enjoyed our meal? I made my disappointment with the Pilaf and the Veggies. She said she was sorry to hear this and would pass it on to management. The management reacted with a monetary adjustment to our bill (I did not look for it or expect it). She said the management didn't want us to go with a bad experience. Good to her. We will try again and try the burgers. Price and quantity were good.
Recently, after a long working day I went to the long shot lounge to enjoy some appetizers and a few drinks with a friend. Unfortunately, we all lasted between 26-30 years, so we were immediately judged by the employees who were 50. Forever... to serve us. I ordered a drink and because it took so long to serve us, I drank it a bit faster than expected. The server continued to cut me for the next 45 minutes as her boss watched me and I drank my drink quickly. I understand the laws here, but if I looked older and the same scenario had taken place, I would be held accountable as I was? Doubt it.. do not come back. Always.
A group of friends who came to visit town had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. It was a busy night because of the Riders football game, but we were still able to enjoy ourselves. The beers were only $4.50 each. The full rack of ribs was particularly impressive and only cost $16.
