The sun dried tomato chicken was incredible as well as the penne with Italian meatballs. We also added the option of having a cocktail hour service of waiter passed hors d'oeuvres was probably the best decision we made for our guests. At the end of the night, my husband and I found that they packed a bag for us to take from the wedding which was the nicest touch to their incredible job!
I do not have enough words to describe how AMAZING Cartwheels was for our wedding. I was so worried about having good quality food but the second we went to our tasting, I canceled all the others we had planned because I knew this company was the one. This team exceeded my expectations. We got so many compliments on the food and the staff was phenomenal. I really couldn?t recommend a company enough. They were so so so good. Forever grateful.
Review for catering: I wasn?t sure about getting a local company to cater my wedding but after hearing from multiple other vendors that they were the best in TEXAS, I was excited to see what they could offer. Their menu has elevated items if that is what you are looking for, but also has classics if you?re going more casual. I had a vision of a Tuscan winter meal and they went above and beyond to complete that. Hands down, the Pork shank over polenta will forever stay in our memory, it is the BEST, and was a great hearty sub for beef- no one missed having that. They provided mini baguettes with dipping olive oil and olives for the tables, a gourmet coffee bar, lovely charcuterie table, and late night snack of tacos and cookies as well! They have upscale taste (style wise), and the owners personally attend/cater the wedding and were there to even bring us appetizers drinks while we were taking our couples photos. Everything went without a hitch, and I would highly recommend them to anyone! 100% would choose Cartewheels again, they are lovely and pleasant people and run a tight ship. The meal was very important to us and all of our guests were incredibly pleased. I may be biased, but it was the most ?nice restaurant? like meal I have ever had at a wedding. They truly care about their presentation and quality, and have the utmost standards for themselves, which translates to the clients and guests.
[This regards Carte Co., the coffee shop] It?s the small things that make the difference, and here are a few small things (and one larger thing) that can be addressed, as opposed to my complaining about things that can?t. Big thing: hours. PAX is open each day and Pint and Plow is open each day except Tuesday (which is inconvenient, but that?s for another time). But those two are open early. Carte opens at 10am. If it?s a ?coffeeshop,? it needs to open at 6am or 7am. Granted, it?s off the beaten path but it?s part of ?Downtown Kerrville,? so I?d love if it could be an early alternative. Small things: mugs instead of paper cups for coffee. Better on the environment and better experience. PAX has great glass mugs. Get some of those. Service was a little slow but it was friendly. Price for coffee was middle ground. Positives: Great coffee Nice, airy environment. Parking plentiful across the street if none in front. SO GLAD that their food is sticking around. They have some of the best lunch fare around.
Great place to eat a simple, hearty meal. I had a ham and cheese melt with a tomato basil soup. Wasn't really in the mood for soup, but I tried it and I was not disappointed. Add in the home made potato chips and a simple canned soda and it was more than I could eat. The sandwiches are not small and the soup could be a meal in itself. Can't wait to get back to downtown Kerrville and stop by here again.
