Had a dinner salad with crab and the crab soup. They charged an additional $12 for the crab on the salad and there was less than a 1/4 cup of crab. Way overpriced! They crab soup was good.
What a disappointment Tims II is as a place to eat on the river. Growing up in Woodbridge and going to Tim's in Cherry Hill (Dumfries) was always a great dining experience. I even attended company Christmas parties at Tim's -and the food was always great. Decades later to decide to dine at Tim's II and think it would be the same experience was me being naive. It was not and will never be like Tim's at Cherry Hill. The restaurant is what you would expect for a destination for boaters and people driving in, it's almost a dive bar but looks fun. The menu has plenty of choices for food and drinks and you really expect a good dining experience. The wife and I have not dined at Tim's II in about 10 years even though we boat on the river and drop anchor nearby but we normally just bring food or we would go in to Ricks on the River (Closed now) a few miles away along the river. So we decided to dine there yesterday and walked away so disappointed that we said we would never return again. Our server was nice and friendly but it seemed they had him spread out all over the restaurant from inside dining to outside dining so it seemed he was stretched thin. Anyway he got our drink order and appetizer order and we waited. The first appetizer to come out was the Crab dip with Ritz crackers. I would not recommend this to anyone as the dip was extremely hard to eat due to so much salt in it. My wife who loves salty foods could not eat it and only had a little bit. The next appetizers out was the stuffed mushrooms and what a joke that was. They weren't stuffed mushrooms instead they were tiny mushrooms about the size of a dime and the filler was dumped over top with a sliced tomato and melted cheese. Terrible presentation. The next appetizer was the bacon wrapped scallops, this was okay and the best of the three. With the appetizers finished we waited for our meals. I ordered the Broiled Rivershore platter, this consists of a piece of fish (Cod), shrimp, scallops, oysters, crab cake, and 3 hush puppies and it comes with 2 sides which I opted for potato salad and 6 hush puppies for a total of 9. What a disaster this platter turned out to be. The oysters were rubbery and the shrimp over cooked, shriveled up and rubbery. The scallops were okay, the crab cake should have been buried at sea as it was the most inedible crab cake I have ever eaten in my life. It was over salted and over seasoned, the seasoning was so thick it burned just trying to swallow it. The crab cake is nowhere near a Maryland style crab cake so do not expect it to be. The wife ordered a shrimp basket and she said it was fine which normally means she hated it. The mixed drinks that offer are laughable at best, they are served in a 10-12 oz clear Solo cup packed with Ice so a couple of pulls and it's empty, probably 6-7 oz. of fluid in them and you Barely taste alcohol so the bartender is probably pouring 1/2 the liquor required for a drink. One think that has never changed though is seeing Tim running food out of the kitchen, I guess they are short staffed and from the taste of the food are in serious need of real cooks and kitchen staff. I didn't take a picture of the food but I did get a picture of the mixed drink. Attached is a picture of our receipt and the over priced food we ate. I would not recommend eating here if you are looking for a good seafood place.
