Really bummed to put such an average review of this little Vietnamese local I found using the Zomato map search. I was just to tired to drive to Richmond for a bowl of Pho and thought I would give this relatively new local place a go... I hate to say it because I love supporting our local businesses but this restaurant experience and bowl of pho was lacklustre. Prawn spring rolls also, well just not the best (prawn mix was mushy, I personally prefer a firm filling). Also eftpos machine not working they wanted me to use PayPal. I really wished this place was good I wasn't expecting a Victoria St Richmond quality just a local place for an average pho prawn spring rolls. Verdict... Below average... Will go without pho if I can't be bothered driving to Richmond.

Should Have added that the curry puffs and the rice paper rolls were good. 22 May, 2015 Salty salty salty. And after saying we don't like pineapple they didn't mention that the dish we ordered had pineapple. The second bottle of wine we brought with us wasn't put in the fridge either. It's a shame bc this area needs more restaurants.

Fresh and delicious!. We are now regulars of Happy Lantern as the dishes have always been fresh and full of flavour. The main dishes are generous in their ingredients and good value. According to the front window, the food is cooked fresh and without MSG and we have consistently found it so. Honestly the best Vietnamese dishes I've ever had. And the Indian bent to the menu gives variety. Highly recommended!
