Lunch alone. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I don't understand the negative comments as if I wasn't able to buy beer by the pint. People should understand that they are NOT in the UK and appreciate real efforts. I ordered fish and chips and was surprised to see fish and cancers. However, the cramps were made at home and were a delicious alternative. I have to make two smaller comments. The dough on the fish was pretty sharp. I suspect some chilis have been added. I also suggest that someone revises the recipe for Tartare sauce. I love Tartare Sauce, but I didn't like what I got. I stress that these are subjective observations and I will definitely go back for the kind welcome.
At 11 a.m. everything else in the neighborhood was closed. Place looks a bit dodgy but beggars can't be voters, I think. We ordered some burgers that were prepared for a while, but I must say they were excellent.
We went here a couple of evenings during our stay in Bogota. First and foremost, we decided to check them out because we found out that they had Aspall Cider available (in the bottle). The waitresses were very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was...quite pleasant. We tried the nachos, the pan fried fish, and the burger. They were all pretty good. They had a good beer selection as well, and several imports. Glad we came across this pub! Make sure to check it out if you're in the mood for an English pub in Bogota.
I called the only customer in the early evening for at least 2 hours. The establishment promotes itself as a typical English pub, name, institution, offers, even the way the staff 'fly the flag' in what they strengthen this concept. I don't want to sound like a whispering tourist, I speak a little Spanish, but the lady who served me (which was polite) didn't speak English, they had no English food, and my food (Roastbeef packaging) was ok 'ish. I'm all concerned that I've tried to turn into 'local' restaurants in the native language, but I've been hoping to enjoy a little English hospitality, especially from a place that sells on this brand. It's far from what I expected.
