It's really a classic! San Diego used to be home to many such Mom Pop-Toughnut shops, and I'm so glad some are still out.
Donuts were so good! I have the noble filled glazed donut and I felt it was perfectly filled! Besides, it was so nice to see all the options on the wall! So many decisions!
I was disappointed the my usual donut spot ran out of donuts again and this place is on the way to Darkhorse my favorite local coffee spot. The donuts were hot, fresh and plentiful. I saw they had a sign on the window for breakfast sandwiches too and I had to give them a try. They make the croissants fresh there, they may not be true french quality but they are pretty good. The lady behind the counter picked two and got to work. She has ham and bacon ready to go and she cracked two fresh eggs per sandwich I believe. I couldn't believe it! Fresh eggs. So awesome!I have been back a few times since and she does take a bit of time to make these sandwiches but they are worth the weight. I challenge anyone here to find a local spot that can make a breakfast sandwich to match it without offering sit down service. And actually you can sit at the donut bar here if you want. I cannot recommend this place enough for their donuts and sandwiches. You need to check them outPlease treat the staff nicely. They are working hard and putting out a quality product!
Another one bites the dust...cheapened up and raised the price on the one and only best seller, Vanilla Cream. Instead of filling them with the delicious whipped cream filling, they use thick, gross frosting , I 'm pretty sure it 's Crisco with vanilla flavoring. Such a bummer because this was the only place you could get the whip cream filled donuts...the rest of the donuts are nothing I can 't get elsewhere and for a lot less money. I 'll be buying my donuts at the grocery store from now on.
