Family dinner is a very German thing and this lunch takes a little more time and consideration than you could accept. The waiting staff is friendly and consider the needs of our older family members most appropriate! This is then a good setup for such an occasion. I love very simple dishes, the simplicity of things that are not opened or complicated. Ingredients that are tasteful and delicious. And here we are. I was told there is a new cook for a while, and I can only say that people support this place and the cook to stay focused! Local fish dishes are very nice, wine recommendations were very good. And if I order a bottle of champagne, it's nothing the waiting personnel find strange. I used to be brilliant here in May for a feast of white asparagus!! And a word to the locals: This place deserves to be still busy when the tourists are gone.
I ate this restaurant with my family. The food was actually not too bad and the service staff were relatively friendly, but when it came to pay the bill, we realized that we were charged 4 euros for tap water! When they instructed us whether we want quiet or glittering water, we thought it was from a bottle. Then a carafe arrived, which we were then accepted by a filter. Since it was hot boiling, we had 4 or 5 half liters of carafe, which ended a total of 20 euros! So, basically what they are doing, serve to tap water, calculate 4 euros, make a huge profit instead of you mineral water that actually costs the same amount. When we complained to the owner, she was rudely rude and said that this was the norm and that in what form the water came in, it was to be paid. We had a neighboring table from Northern Germany who said that this was not the case at all where they came from. The point is that when I order water, I expect it from a sealed bottle and do not want to be preserved with tap water. We were shocked that an owner of what seems to be an important institution, as this was so arrogant and terrible unfriendly. We're not going back there.
We ate here several times as we were staying in the hotel. Good points: Great view of lake and little port. Terrace or interior seating offers full choice. Dishes very tasty and well presented. Good sized servings. Service from the staff was excellent on all...occasions. Kids meal offers adults a better budget choice for the children but still keeping the quality. Excellent range of wines. Bad points: A little on the expensive side but then this area is not cheap. The wasps this summer were a real problem. I think they should be looking at wasp traps and wasp deterrents to reduce the problem. I would say that many German restaurants have this problem and fail to use any wasp deterrents.
We ate here one evening during our stay in Langenargen. We tried to eat here on the Saturday night but unfortunately for us, and our friends, it was full. We returned on another evening and enjoyed excellent food and a very warm welcome. We were...given an English menu, which was a great help! The food was delicious and we all had a very nice time. Very friendly and helpful staff. If we were ever in this area again we would definitely call in for something to eat.
