Puerta De Oro

This is a place which despite being a reasonably busy friday evening was empty when restaurants around were full. As i entered the delivery guy shouted to the owner in his way out the door that he had a customer. The owner looked relieved. I got the feeling its a place that may have had better times. The interior looks like a 90s chinese restaurant on the high street in any british town and perhaps that is where puerta de oro remains. Not many recent reviews but lots of positive ones in its past show times are not kind. The food was average, the owner was kind but everything just lacks energy and flavor. Great location and plenty potential

Visited with my husband one evening we ordered chop suet rolls for starters which were okay. For mains we had egg fried rice which again was okay I ordered chicken chow mean and my husband chicken curry, both were awful the chicken was processed and there was no sauce it looked more like a broth! The chow mien was the same processed chicken and both dishes consisted of a lot of green leaves.....could have been Chinese leaves or lettuce. Would never go again and would not even give this place one star. I see some people have given good reviews I can only assume the staff have changed, don’t waste your money

Five of us had lunch there last Sunday. It’s our “go to” local Chinese. I took various Chinese cookery courses in the US from a purist and have been to China a couple of times. This is not the food you’ll find here as it’s doctored for local tastes. There’s a great deal of chopped cabbage in the (large) spring rolls, for example, and the duck breast isn’t entirely crispy..but it’s absolutely fine as a middle-of-the-road Chinese eatery for Europeans. Service is swift and attentive. And the food is quite tasty and filling with very large portions as other reviewers have pointed out. It’s very reasonable so we go there regularly when on the island. You could do a lot worse! We really quite like it.

Perfecto. Si quieres comer bien y a buen precio tienes que venir. tratamiento excepcional, platos suculentos, la salsa endulza lo mejor que he probado. Lo recomiendo
