Thankfully, they weren't able to make a charge stick, but I ended up spending the night in jail facing a public intoxication charge, which was eventually dropped after a costly ordeal. I wouldn't drink at this restaurant for anything, and I genuinely feel for anyone who does. It's hard to fathom how anyone could leave a positive review, as every time I've ordered takeout, my order has been incorrect, and the staff has exhibited such rudeness that it's truly unacceptable. The one time I dined in, I was treated poorly and felt utterly disrespected. To make matters worse, the police were called on me after I had a couple of drinks. They didn't come inside but were parked outside in an undercover car, and there were hardly any other customers around. This experience left me so unsettled that I haven't felt safe eating in public for quite some time. It's disheartening to wonder if this treatment was influenced by my race or if the staff is genuinely that unprofessional.
The bar area offers a noticeable improvement in service! The food is far superior compared to the S Cumberland location. The staff here are much friendlier and take their time to assist you, unlike the rushed feeling I often get at S Cumberland. I'm really enjoying the new menu, which is almost authentic to Mexican culture, rather than the usual options like #2, #6, or #17, or even the infamous Speedy Gonzalez. The bartender they have now is incredibly attentive and polite, not to mention quite handsome! It’s hard to find a place for a girls' night or day out with a charming bartender. And just to clarify, he didn’t pay me to say any of this; he hardly acknowledged my compliments. He was simply appreciative of my kind words.
I've visited this restaurant three times in the last 60 days, and today's visit will be my last. While I would rate the food as an A/B, the poor service deserves an F. Each time I encountered service issues—like slow responses, lack of attention to detail, and having to request the same items multiple times—I brought it to the attention of the managers. Each time, they attributed the problems to staff shortages. This explanation is acceptable the first time, but when it becomes a recurring theme, it feels like an excuse. I've come to believe that a satisfactory dining experience should be the standard, not the exception. I'm sure others will continue to enjoy Los Compadres, but I’m choosing to seek a better overall dining experience elsewhere.
It is one hell of a restaurant. The food is good the service is great and it's beautiful inside.
