The bar has a cool design, built into the railway spans above with exposed brickwork and lovely decor. There are plenty of seating options inside and outside with a great view of the bustling canal area. We visited on a Thursday evening and were greeted warmly by a friendly member of the bar team. We ordered a pale ale, which was served in excellent condition. The pale ale was crisp, well-balanced with a strong hoppy flavor, hints of toffee, and a delicious aroma. It was the perfect refreshment for a hot evening. We both enjoyed our drinks before moving on. Overall, it was a great first experience at this bar located on Dark Neville Street. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
I came to the area for the first time to meet a friend of Archie's. The place was really nice with a lot of table outside and inside and many different gins. We were asking for drinks through their app and the drinks came extremely fast. The staff was very friendly when I approached them a couple of times to ask them how to put a mixer for my gin. It started raining, so we moved in and decided to buy a pizza. A nice man with glasses recommended the goat cheese pizza and I must say that the pizza was perfect. I would definitely return on Wednesday to get another, as they also have the discount.
We visited Archies on Saturday, August 1st on the street. The pizzas baked in Stone were delicious and the optional ordering app was very simple and easy to use (unlike the applications used elsewhere) however, the service was disappointing: we felt like an imposition by the only fact of being there, the staff seemed visibly stressed, but they spent a relatively large amount of time chatting between them, even while the pizzas expected to be delivered at their tables. The most worrying element of our visit was that the younger male server was still taking his face off from time to time and without disinfecting his hands in the middle. I appreciate you may feel uncomfortable, however, the rest of the staff do not seem to have the same problems.
We arrived on a Saturday night around 7 pm when I was busy. We hadn't booked, so we didn't expect to get a table, but when we got close, there was no staff at the door to let us know if they were full or not. We went past the bar and found a table to sit down. No one came to see us or take our drinks orders or anything, and obviously at this time people shouldn't go to the bar, so we sat down waiting confused and ignored. The staff was busy but not very busy. It seemed that the installation was badly equipped and not sufficiently organized for a Saturday night, which is a shame, as all other bars and restaurants seem to have succeeded. We wait 15 minutes for someone to come, but they never did, so we just left and we won't come back.
Our first time since the encierro, and we were quite cautious, to say the least. We shouldn't have been worried. The whole experience made us feel completely safe, from well-spaced outdoor tables until they took the temperature on arrival. The staff was excellent, wearing visors and was very careful to maintain social distance. A great selection of pizzas and a cold Star painting were a delight. I'll definitely come back and recommend it.
