A huge list of cocktails on Happy Hour 2 for 1 ALL DAY! What? Yes, between the view of the Costa Rican Sun every evening in all its colorful glory and ambience and good cheer that Matteo and his team bring on the table, it is not a brain. KRAZY LOBSTER ROCKS! Do not look for your seafood in Puerto Viejo...
Great location right on the waterfront with prices that cannot be beaten. This is a very casual place, I recommend for dinner and enjoy the sounds of the waves.
Good food, nice view. The hotel is located on the beach.
Very nice waitress and the food was delicious. My sister and I ordered both from the special menu that was Halibut, rice, salad and curtains (drilled sweet bananas? . The reason why I don't give 4 stars is because we ordered the guacamole and chips that came after the meal and served with fried bananas instead of chips.
On my way to meet the tour bus this morning I passed a friendly grill guy sizzling up some amazing looking ribs. I stopped to savor the smell and check out the menu, in typical Pura Vida vibe style he engages me and says they’re not open but will be soon. I told him I’d come back and he gave me a little sample from a slab right off the grill, it was tender, tasty and totally sold me on making that my post activity eating spot. After a long day of hiking I got off the bus hungry and tired so I made a bee line to the Krazy Lobster past a few other choices that had be recommended to me by others on the tour. Determined to honor my commitment to the grill guy and my stomach I stayed the course. When I arrived, just as the sun was about to set, I was sure I’d made the right choice. I found a prime table to watch the “sky show” ordered an Imperial (they don’t have a happy hour menu) and waited for me ribs. When they finally came, almost 30 mins later they were tough to chew and overly seasoned. The “salad” was a small handful of sheared lettuce, 1/2 a tomato slice and 2 pieces of cucumber. The plantain looked like they were “chips” from a bag vs soft and hot sliced fresh fried goodness and there were 2 sad looking folded over soft tortilla wraps on the side. I had to get up from the table with sticky hands and find a napkin holder because after several failed attempts to get the attention of anyone working there I figured it would be quicker to just do it myself. The meal was a HUGE letdown and for $17.86 it was a pricy one at that. That said, I got to see a spectacular sunset, smell the salt air, listen to the waves and sway to the music they were playing (all which thankfully were free) Maybe it was an off night, maybe the morning grill guy took off after prepping for the lunch rush and whoever was left to man the grill wasn’t up to it whatever the reason 1st taste nailed it... 2nd time not so much. It’s like that sometimes.
