Let's start with, I have read several reviews that complain about authenticity and quality of food. We talk about an Austrian restaurant 9100km from Japan. I wouldn't expect authentic Texas barbecue here either.... Personally, I think it was as authentic as you were at 9100km. The flavors were great. No need to add something to get the food to my wishes. Almost. I asked for some chilis to season it a little. My son had the chicken Katsu, it was crispy and juicy. Pure comfort. We also enjoyed the sashimi and udon. Both had great flavors. The ratio of rice to meat that some complained about was perfect. The rice was there. Food quality was amazing to say the least. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Our beers were crispy, the love was warming and delicious and the whisky was sweet and hot. Service was excellent. Mario and Sabine were there to host and help. The staff was quick to react and to ensure that our needs were met. Usually people leave with a full stomach. Today we left with full stomach and happy heart. Thank you.
Dinner with friends. The outer space in the back is pleasant. Food was good, but nothing special. The fish rice ratio in the Maki did not really work for me, tiny amount of fish. Overall a good experience.
Izakaya was founded in 1985 as the first Japanese restaurant in Upper Austria. Cosy place, nice waiters, good food!
Always craving Japanese food I decided to go here as I read that it was a family business (a Japanese one) and came highly recommended. I lived in Japan for a bit so I was confused when my chicken karage came and it was actually tempura! Strange and not what I was craving, but delicious. The restaurant is lovely; gorgeous Japanese ceramics and textiles and really nice toilets! Lots of tanuki figures line the windows too, which is sweet. The don menus look to be best value (from spying on our neighbours), but the food we had was all really good. The starters seem a bit expensive to me so I would just have a main dish next time. The fact that it's called Izakaya but that they don't serve lots of small plates is a bit of a shame, but I guess they are just catering for an Austrian customer. All in all, a lovely meal.
