We enjoyed a German food festival, with dishes like sauerbraten with red cabbage and dumplings, as well as rouladen with sauerkraut. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.
I cannot deny that the food I had at the Bavarian Lodge was some of the best German food I have had. The sour roast was delicious, the sparrow and red cabbage were equally wonderful, the liver dumpling soup was one of the best I have ever had, and the selection of beers on tap and in bottles was very impressive. There are not many German restaurants in the Midwest, for reasons unknown. However, I would compare the Bavarian Lodge to some of the best German restaurants I have encountered in my travels.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant and will definitely return. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed the wide selection of beers on the menu. If you enjoy German cuisine, this place is a must-try. The server did an excellent job describing the various brews available.
I'm so surprised I see some bad reviews about this place. I'm here more often than I could count and never was unhappy. The food is always amazing, and price you would expect for the quality. Your beer selection is unbeatable. Service is wonderful. The atmosphere is extremely secret and the bar side has the feeling of some small pubs I visited in Europe. Great place to impress customers or a date, or just with some mates and have some beer.
Duck was really good. Mash potatoes and apple sauce fresh as can be. Service great.
