The Five Horseshoes

First time here. A nice little pub situated in the countryside. When seated was told its a cashless pub, not mentioned on their website. Some of the staff looked unhappy and put a Damper on my dinning experience. Notice when sat another party came in after and was offered drinks before us. Food was average. My steak was supposed to be a 8oz but didn't look like it. My partner ordered a roast dinner but the veg was cold and Yorkshire pudding was burnt. The place inside could do with more lighting . Staff need to inform guest of the low ceiling beems.

The staff was very nice and welcoming. I liked the main, sirloin steak medium rare. However, it was a bit chewy. And I wasn't a fan of the peppercorn sauce with sauteed mushrooms that came with the steak. I also tried the fried squid and wasn't a fan, it was quite tasteless. I'd give the food overall a 6.5/10 The service was 10/10 and would try something else next time.

Enjoyed our visit, the staff was welcoming, attentive and helpful when we use Tesco vouchers. The food was nice, good size potions and drinks good priced. The only drawback we had was a large party having a lovely evening next to us which made it a bit noisy. Would recommend

Fairly empty on entry , when we left every table was taken. My companions had fish and chips, whereas I had the gammon, it was a wise choice it was delicious.

Went last night for a family dinner out. Pub wasn’t overly busy when we arrived and we were shown straight to the table. My backside had barely touched the chair when the young waiter was trying to take the drinks order. After that, the service was decidedly average and given how quiet it was, quite slow (nearly 3 hours for 3 courses). The starters were tasty but overpriced for what you got and the mains were decidedly average. The veg had been boiled way too long. Perhaps I had high hopes given the look of the pub but perhaps I should be realistic and accept that if you can spend Tesco vouchers there, the food isn’t going to be top notch.
