The restaurant has a charming ambiance and is the perfect spot for brunch!
This was my first time at this restaurant and I was impressed by the nice decor and relaxing music. However, I was disappointed that I did not receive the warm welcome I was expecting. The staff seemed to be in their own world, not making eye contact or saying any words, despite my efforts to be open and courteous. The cafe's description of reaching out to those in need of support overlooked people who may be "hiding in plain sight." The recommended food was hot and reasonably priced. I plan to visit again on a Tuesday to see if the atmosphere has improved, which is ironically fitting.
Not a good place for a quick breakfast. Food and drink service took ages (about half an hour from ordering for coffee/juice and another 15 mins for food). When we entered, we asked if there was anything suitable for vegans and they didn't seem to know what this was but the menu actually did have tonnes of options which was great. One of us ordered a tuna toastie and the bread was well toasted but filling cold and cheese not melted. The orange and apple juice was freshly squeezed which was a nice fresh touch but the menu did not specify this and wasn't really what I was after so would not have ordered if I'd have known. We ordered a bottle of wine, but it had been about 30-40 minutes by the time it came so at that point we weren't interested anymore really as the food was there and we were keen to get off. Therefore we asked if we could have just 2 glasses which they gave us but then charged for the whole bottle. When we queried this, they said they didn't serve wine by the glass so we'd have to purchase the whole thing which is fair enough but they hadn't stated that when we asked for the glasses and also hadn't actually given us the rest of the bottle so felt a bit like they were trying to rip us off (they did give us the rest of the bottle when we asked as we had paid for it). I understand that Sunday mornings are normally busy for cafes (it was virtually empty initially when we got there but it definitely got busier) which is why I've given it 3 stars, not 2, as I understand preparing fresh food takes time but it was more the drinks service that was disappointing. The servers appeared disinterested/apathetic. The food options were plentiful and most of it tasty, and very reasonably priced for London but the service and confusion sadly left us with a sour taste.
Very nice trip this morning to Headroom Cafe in Golders Green for brunch. Staff were friendly and were given a nice table. The menu had a lot of options and decent prices. Food was good but not perfect. Shakshuka was a bit overcooked and was never asked how I like it. Salad and pasta was alright. I nice place for a quick bite and to support. Staff need a bit more training I think. Also please improve air conditioning If you liked my review feel free to give it a and follow me on Google Maps for more reviews!
