Food was superb, we had the rabbit and autumn vegetables and the cod from the specials menu, very tasty. Also had the vegetable tempura, large pieces which would have been better if smaller. That said plenty of food, and atmospheric.
I popped in for breakfasts but was told I was too late despite the couple next to me having their breakfast being delivered and me seated just before the cut off. I settled for tempura udon which was perfectly acceptable however it should have been better than 'perfectly acceptable '. The portion size was on the small side (I am not a big person so do not need a bigger portion) and there was only 1 prawn tempura that had not been totally de-veined. The wait staff sat me right next to a gentleman on the corner of the bar meaning I leaned right over his food. I asked to be moved to the space further down but was refused as I was told this was for a two top which did not fill up the entire time I was there. Having me lean over him to eat must have been super uncomfortable for him, it certainly was for me. Could have been much better. To be honest, it should have been much better.
Small restaurant, so not easy to get a place. We had to wait but not too much and finallynthey sat us at the bar and served in a reasonable time. You can see how they cook from the bar. Everything was quite good and we found amduck udon specialy tasty. Everything for a reasonable price.
Worth the wait, a very simple service where they seat you at the bar providing a simple menu to choose from. The food order is taken quickly and brought to you pretty quickly also. The food is simple but somehow full flavour. The broth is light and rich but not overpowering, it's accompanied by great udon noodles. The mixed tempura dish served had a good number of large pieces. The tempura was very light and crunchy. We will definitely come back again
Such a lovely little place. Simple, traditional, extremely quick service. I would love to go back. I ordered Lamb Cumin miso Hiya-Atsu and my husband ordered chicken Kara-Age Don, Kakuni and Ozeki One Cup mini. The food was very good.
