Best breakfast in Longview. If you order ham, you get a piece of ham, not two little strips. Hash browns cooked to crispy perfection. And they have fantastic lunch specials
Great Breakfast! Anytime!!. Stopped here for breakfast Sat. morning and it was wonderful. Staff is friendly and always ready to refill your coffee. Looks like it's a pretty busy place, but no doubt the reason why.
It's like eating with family here! We love the City Diner and it's owners and staff. And everything is good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is great, chicken fried steak is, burgers and fries are yummy and the Gyro is awesome!!
This restaurant had been on our minds for quite some time. After reading numerous reviews that emphasized how good everything is—especially breakfast—we decided to try it out. As we drove up, the place had an old-fashioned, charming vibe. The sign outside is peeling, but we liked the City Diner sign and the coffee pot perched on top. We parked under an awning that seemed to have served a purpose for previous restaurants, and we noticed an abandoned drive-through at the back. Apparently, the restaurant had been closed for a while before the current owners took it over, and prior to that, it was a Mexican place. Inside, the decor was very basic and clean, capturing that classic diner feel. A rating posted by the door showed an 'A.' Our server was friendly and mentioned that the restaurant has been in business for about 8-9 years. One review we'd read mentioned that the staff is Macedonian, and the two waitresses who helped us had noticeable accents. They frequently checked on us, which was nice. The place was quite busy during lunchtime, and we experienced a wait of about 20-30 minutes for our food. We ordered a cheeseburger and a Philly cheesesteak, both of which were tasty, but the fries were the highlight—my fellow diners declared them 'awesome.' They were incredibly crispy and even better when dipped in a side of mayo, reminiscent of how they do it in Germany. The Gyro Cheese Omelette was outstanding, and we can't forget to mention the superb crispy bacon and thick sausage gravy served with fluffy biscuits. Overall, our experience was exceptional. **JG Score:** 8 (+3 for food, +1 for atmosphere, +1 for price, 0 for lacking Diet Dr. Pepper, +1 for service, +2 for willingness to return anytime).
