Restaurant Barbe Jr - Low

This property is really a nice place to stop for breakfast or lunch. While it is anything but stylish or fancy the simple facts are that (1) the restaurant is clean (including the washrooms) (2) the menu is adequate, (3) the staff are pleasant, bilingual, and helpful, and (4) above all the meals are really very good. This is for us a regular stop on our way back to Ottawa from Lac Saint Marie.

The food at Barbe’s is obviously very good. Which makes it extra disappointing when they close at 1:35 instead of the stated 2PM. This is the third time I make the 20 minute trek only to find the place closed 20-25 mins early. Admittedly, I am showing up the last half hour but I work nights and am usually very quick. What’s the point of advertising a 2PM closing time when really its 1:35.

Had breakfast at Barbe Jr with friends last Saturday as we often do. The food is always good, plates generous, good prices and coffee refills unlimited, all served with a smile. The parking lot may seem busy but there always seems to be plenty of room inside even at peak breakfast time on Saturday. Love everything about it.

For the past several years we have incorporated stopping at Barbe Jr. as the official beginning to our girls weekend at the cottage. The restaurant is right on the highway, easy in and out. It is a decent sized spot, bright, clean and friendly staff. There are alway daily specials to choose from. I love that you can get breakfast or lunch, there is always a mix at our table. This time I had the chicken fingers and they were delicious, nice and crunchy outside and tender on the inside. My friend had a breakfast special with eggs, beans, home fries and sausages. This is Gem of a spot so if you are in the area definitely check it out.

There are several menu options of the day. Peas soup was excellent. The kitchen is simple, a bit of the house kitchen type. desserts seem very good. the people I went to dinner at this restaurant, enjoyed them. The service was very good, fast and courteous. There's a little restaurant down there. the value/price ratio is very well.
