We dropped in most evenings for a drink or two and enjoyed the tapas and the wine. We didn’t actually eat there for some time as we were either cooking for ourselves or venturing all over Madrid to eat and just finishing the day there. However we did discover how good the food really was near the end of our holiday. I would recommend this unassuming bar in Arguelles for the food and the friendliness…not to mention the vino.
I don't why it has taken me so long to write a review of this great bar restaurant in the beautiful Madrid neighborhood of Arguelles. Last night we went to have some of their innovative tapas raciones, which continue to surprise for their subtle tastes. We started out with a tapa of chiperones wrapped in lightly fried crepe bathed in a succulent tomato sauce. Amazing! Then we ordered their mini hamburgers, the meat is Galician buey., tender and full of meat flavor. Super tasty! Then we ordered chupa chups, which means lollipop in Spanish, of solomillo with a Pedro Jimenez sauce. They melted in your mouth. They have an interesting wine list by the glass, including some excellent Ribera del Duero that you might not find in other bars. They have different beers by the bottle and they pull a good draft as well. The service is excellent, attentive and friendly. If you are looking for a friendly neighborhood place to enjoy some great food, wine and drink without breaking the bank for ordering innovative tapas, then this is the place.
Staying right across the street and wandered in, felt like it was our local right away. Staff really friendly, very reasonable prices and tasty food what more do you want?
