Quickly forward several years and Ben has moved to a beautiful new place that is well maintained. The new place is quiet and quiet and it is peaceful to eat outside, a great feeling. Ben decorated his restaurant for Christmas. The crib is fantastic and a must to see. We ordered Mutton Vindaloo, Beef Semur, which was delicious and tender, Bens Fried Chicken, Curry devil, Okra in garlic sauce, Kailan in garlic sauce and French beans in garlic. And they were good to taste. Service was good with Ben personally with us. The dishes were not excessively spicy. The staff was attentive and good. Prices were decent and reasonable. My mother was shocked that it hardly cost us for all the food. Continue doing a big job Big Ben and wish you success.
Place is located in a residential area so that you can easily miss this place (it is just down the road from where the Ujong Pasir Tuesday pasar malam is held). The restaurant is located on the street side and not in the middle of a residential property. There are many parking spaces directly opposite the square as well. The place has no inside seats. Since all tables are outdoors, you have to rely on natural breeze. So you could sweat if you have your meal if there is no breeze on that day. You have fans around, so you might be able to choose tables that are in front of the fan. Menu only have a few articles of meat (chickens, beef, mutton), fish, shrimps, eggs, vegetables, and they even have a small selection of western foods. Think of them as zhu char place but with some Portuguese dishes. We had the deviled curry chicken, ziccalok egg, black pepper eggplant and Portuguese grilled fish (we had siakap). The food here is amazing!! Honestly, I never had Portuguese food, so I didn't know what to expect (except for circus). But the dishes surprised us all. Deviled chicken curry was really tasteful and delicate, and the sauce was so thick and fragrant. The Auberginengericht surprised us most. It was such a unfair dish, with grilled/baked eggplant, with black pepper and salt, I think that was crispy. Omg, the black pepper just contributed to the scent of the plate without being too sharp. The crunch from black pepper also gave it a texture from soft and damp eggplant. We recommend both the deviled curry and the black pepperplant! The Portuguese barbecue was also delicious. Fish was super damp and not boiled in the least. When the fish was halved before cooking, the lower part of the fish was charred, which contributed to the mokiness to the sauce, which was swallowed on the fish. So good la, you have to try alone to understand how we felt at dinner. I'm looking forward to return to this place when I'm in Melaka.
Big Ben’s is a warm and welcoming family restaurant. Food is very tasty and they do not compromise on quality even if the restaurant is busy. Chef Ben and employees are so attentive and helpful. Large dining area if you want to discover delicious Malacca Portuguese cuisine. Remember to try their sauces.
Malacca Portuguese Cuisine best! Chef Ben leads the traditional recipes to perfection. The service was great and the service staff was attentive, obligated and light hearted. Good work and we will be back for more!
