A small place symbol of the old Boracay was closed in May 2018 for the rehabilitation of the island and never reopened. The structure, in a state of abandonment, could fall apart at any moment. Looking from the back you can see weeds and abandoned household goods, as in the attached photo.
A must-go-to watering hole (with superb food, too) for good company, intelligent conversations, and amiable company.
Boracay 's been cleaned up now, so The Red Pirates might 've lost some of its charm ... but at the time it was part of the local 's beach culture ... fish on coals ... drumming by the beach-side fire ... dancing in the sand ... and in the palm-fron hut, under a massive One love flag, I had an icy San miguel ,I got chills listening to Old Man nail a one-man acoustic of Redemption Song , that made the scene unforgettable
A bar with a good atmosphere. It's a bit scary if you go too late. The owner looks like a real pirate
