The restaurant was almost empty and there were plenty of staff, so I can’t excuse the below. We ordered 1 roast dinner and 1 vegetarian roast dinner. From the selection of beef, turkey and chicken, only turkey was available. From the 3 vegetarian options, only the pie was available. This wasn’t an issue but we were only told once we had been seated and left to read the menus. I ordered a large roast and my partner asked for extra stuffing as large isn’t an option on vegetarian options. My large roast included 1 extra stuffing ball. My partner also had 1 extra stuffing ball. There was no extra pig in blanket and no extra Yorkshire as in the menu. The turkey was dry and crispy, the vegetables mushy and grey and the yorkshires were rock solid. On top of this, a glass of Malbec costs £8.80 and arrived in filthy glasses. There were lipstick stains and finger marks on all glasses we were served drinks in. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, but the overall experience was really poor. I’m hoping this was a one-off but given the prices charged and the very tiny portions, quality and cleanliness, we are unlikely to return.
The Crown is absolutely amazing!! Popped in for some tea with a couple of friends last week, we ended up staying quite some time as the service was great and the drinks were amazing as well as the food. We will definitely be returning very soon.
Excellent as usual, service and quality. Gina and the team offer a good friendly place to eat and drink
We have lived close to the Crown in Powick for just over two years now. Despite early evening not being our first choice to visit (mainly due to noisey children, but appreciate it is a family establishment), it is handy if we don't wish to go far afield. What makes this pub stand out are the staff. Gina is a fantastic manager, always greets us with a smile and when she is able will engage in conversation. Then there is Alex who always make us feel welcome and special as does Ben. Having named these staff members, our experience with others whose names we are not familiar with are also good. Food wise we have found Marstons offer value for money. We have almost always found the food to be good apart for our most recent visit on a steak night when we found the food to be lukewarm. We discretely mentioned this to Alex and bingo our plates were whisked away and within an acceptable wait time on a very busy evening were replaced by warmer plates. On both occasions our steaks were cooked to perfection. The ladies toilets are always immaculate, although we don't usually visit at busy times but please Marstons fix the water pressure in the ladies loos as I always get a shower whilst washing my hands!
Absolutely appalling. Arrived and had to ask them to wipe the table because they were all dirty. Only ourselves and one other table (of two) but waited an hour for our food! When food arrived I found a large piece of metal in my food. Thank goodness it wasn’t a meal that had been served to a child, this could have been very dangerous! Hardly an apology. Avoid!
