My colleague and I arrived in Manchester on the evening of Easter Bank Holiday Monday for a meeting the following day. We were in search of a Chinese restaurant and stumbled upon this place. The decor is simple and functional, not high-end, but that's just a fact, not a criticism. The waitress was polite and tried her best to explain the spicy hot pot selection to us in broken English. We selected our ingredients - meat, vegetables, and noodles - and put them all in one bowl, then paid by weight, similar to a pick-and-mix. We chose between mild and spicy, then sat back with a beer while our dinner cooked. The food was delicious, and at £40 for two meals and four beers, it was a good deal. The service was attentive and helpful, and I would definitely recommend this place. The waitress mentioned that the menu was new, so perhaps that has addressed some of the negative feedback. And despite the option, we didn't partake in any karaoke.
After a great experience last year, I decided to revisit this restaurant in Manchester. After a 3-hour search, I finally found it at 10pm and it was almost empty. We were seated and given a menu, but it took a while for the waitress to take our order, despite being the only customers. The staff seemed reluctant to cook certain dishes we wanted and even tried to dissuade us from ordering certain items, claiming they were too spicy. However, the food we did order, particularly the chicken chow mein, was delicious. The owners, who were friendly, eventually sat down to eat their own meal, causing a delay in receiving the bill. Overall, it is recommended to visit early or on weekends if you decide to dine at this restaurant.
I don't even know where to begin. Visiting this place was a complete waste of time. After considering all the options for food and karaoke in Manchester to celebrate Christmas and New Years, we finally decided to go to Han Dynasty after reading their reviews. How wrong we were! The customer service was terrible, with extremely rude and unprofessional staff. The food was mediocre at best, and the karaoke system barely worked. Not to mention the hidden costs that were not explained to us. The whole experience was a disaster, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The manager was nowhere to be found, and when we received the bill, it was outrageous. They added an extra £188 for the large karaoke room, bringing the total bill to almost £400. We questioned this excessive charge, as we were never informed about the separate fees for karaoke and food. Despite our complaints, the restaurant insisted on the full payment. After much argument, we settled on paying half of the bill. It felt like a never-ending battle, and we heard other customers in different rooms also complaining about their bills. This was a truly horrific experience, and I feel compelled to warn others about this establishment. I hope they seriously reconsider their business practices before they lose all their customers. After this ordeal, we will not be returning. I urge others to speak up and share their experiences to prevent others from going through the same thing.
Overpriced and rude!! Fillet steak in blackpepper sauce was bland, ordered a soya milk drink and when i went to order another one said they dont do it , but didnt make sense as they served me the first one..... Karaoke machine kept crashing throughout the night and the only compensation we got was an extra 10 minutes at the end, thanks.... but what totally ruined it for us was THE BILL. When the bill came, the food and drinks amounted to £139.18 and a separate £188 was ADDED ON .. so the bill came to a WHOOPING £327.18!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went upstairs to enquire about this ridiculous bill to be served by a lady working behind the till, we asked to speak to either the manager or the owner, to which she replied not here . So we talked to her about the bill as she was the only one available, instead of trying to calm us and console us, she folded her arms over her chest and said what about it? what do u want to do then? in a very rude manner. When her attitude put me off, I asked again that id rather speak to someone with authority about this, she replied I only work here and rolled her eyes too. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Her explanation was that upstairs and downstairs are two separate businesses.... I said you gotta be kidding me, you share the same menu, you have the same staff, youre in the same building, we 've been before and the food and drink was never added on separately... If it was under new management, why are there no signs up? It is very misleading and a con to make money. We are regulars who visit this place but wont be anymore because of this. Oh and apparently the sign above the main entrance was a massive clue she said... They share the same door and the restaurant leads to downstairs anyway!!! At no point did ANYONE SAY THE £188 DOES NOT INCLUDE FOOD OR DRINKS! RIP OFF TO BEGIN WITH... At this point a lady in red turns up and starts to ask about the situation, she was nice and very different to the first girl. Fast forward, she talked us into giving 200 instead. I DID NOT want to even give 200 for the horrible experience but couldnt be bothered wasting my breath any longer. AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF! Guy who managed downstairs was nowhere to be found or seen when we wanted to ask about the bill or complain. Absolutely useless!. Came in with a beer in his hand (very unprofessional) and tried to add our numbers... total creep and mood wrecker! Ive attached photos so people can see where im coming from.. the sign above the door does mention karaoke, but above the karaoke sign is the sign for the restaurant.... how are we supposed to know theyre two separate businesses or under new management???? Its always looked like this..nothings changed!
A rip off on place, price and food! The person only stated £188 fee for the room when we booked but never said it doesn't include food and drinks as it always did before. Since two months ago, they changed owners and have since charged differently but never informed us until we got the bill of ALL the food and drinks PLUS £188 separately as a charge for just using the room for 4 hours... Totalling to over £300 pounds! Also.. The ktv didn't have most of the latest songs and crashed twice too...! The lady at the till was extremely rude when we went to confront her and she said it was our fault as we booked with the people downstairs but they were the ones taking the payment upstairs!! How is it our fault?? Will NEVER GO BACK and never recommend to anyone! Don't go there if you don't want to get ripped off!!
